Penang is a state in Malaysia situated by the Malacca Strait on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The state is divided into two parts: Seberang Perai on the Malay Peninsula and George Town, the capital at Penang Island. The Penang Bridge and the Second Penang Bridge, which connects the two areas, are the longest sea bridges in Southeast Asia. Penang is the second-smallest state in Malaysia in terms of land area and shares borders with Perak to the south and Kedah to the east and north.
